Everyday makeup routine: Autumn Edition.

Monday, 7 December 2015

So we've hit the month of December, a time when the tinsel, cinnamon sticks and mulled wine come out for the first time in quite a while. As I'm a big lover of the festive season I thought it would only be right to upload a few Christmassy posts to get you ready for the arrival of the big day!
However, before I bombard with everything from fairy lights to gingerbread houses, I thought I'd ease into by posting a makeup look for everyday in the autumn season!

1. Foundation - I use 2 different foundations, one slightly lighter than the other to cover my darker areas (such as under my eyes). These are Rimmel London - Stay matte. Retails around £7/8 and it's almost like a cream mousse, that gives a heavy coverage without looking too much. I have quite pale skin, so I use the lightest shade, which I think is called light porcelain. And the second, slightly darker shade is No.7 essentially natural light coverage foundation in the shade warm Ivory. This one gives a very light coverage and I absolutely love it! It's build able and dreamy.
I just apply these to my skin after I've used a primer and then my base is done.

2. Then we move onto my eyebrows. I never used to fill them in or touch them, but after I did it once, I've never been back. Because I already have quite dark eyebrows, I just use Soap&Glory's archery to outline and then I use a medium brown eyeshadow to fill them in, I think the one I use is boots own natural collection in the shade Crushed walnut. I feel doing this just makes them flow better and look less out there.

3. Concealer - I do this after to just go over any blemishes or mid colourings in my skin. I use Collections lasting perfection concealer and it lasts so long it's literally my life saver! Again it's a build able product that comes in handy when you wake up with a huge spot on your face. Sometimes I use it under my eyes and in my T-zone to add some contour.

4. My favourite step next, BRONZER. I don't know why I love it so much but I love the bourjois highlight and bronzer compact. The shades are perfect and the product itself really add definition to my lacking in colour face, I apply this to my check bones, and buff it into my temples making sure that I'm blending in. Then the highlight goes under my brow bone, so that my eyebrows become lifted. Then I tend to sweep some along my T-zone, and that's it for the bronzing!

5. Eyeshadow - As always I'm using the Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay. However I don't have a set pattern of shades to use, I kinda just go with what I'm feeling that day. Then I usually blend out, and apply some liquid eyeliner along my upper lash line, applying mascara shortly after.

6. Lips - Don't get my wrong, I use bold lipsticks on occasion, but throughout winter, I use lip balm quite abit, because the wind is really drying and it makes my lips go so dry and chapped that I need to make sure they have moisture. In use burts  bee's original most of the time, but recently I've been using Vaseline coco butter, and I must say it's very nice.

After that's done, I get my pressed powder and quickly sweep it along my face, allowing the makeup to set, then for extra strength I use a make up setting spray.

I would love to hear what you do when it comes to winter - in terms of makeup, so get commenting your favourite looks, so yeah! Thanks for reading, speak soon,

love, Megan

A surfers dream.

Friday, 7 August 2015

Last Friday I came back from Cornwall, the past were I'd spend the previous 2 weeks on holiday. And what  a lovely holiday it was. After everything that has gone off this year, I felt like I'd finally had the time to relax and somewhat gather myself back to a fairly normal being.
I've been to Cornwall millions of times, but its always as beautiful. Having time like these holidays are so lovely because it gives me time to share special memories with my family and actually experience nice weather!

So, I wont drag it on anymore, and I shall share with you my holiday snaps....

Inspirational Internet

Friday, 17 July 2015

The Internet. A pretty weird place, a wise place and a vast one at that. Over the many years of its existence it's taken the world by storm and created a viral space of social activity, broad creativity and wild sharing of ones life experiences. It's pretty crazy really.
Being a 16 year old in today's society is pretty tough. I mean, there's no jobs out there for us, we're judged by everyone around us, pressured to be the ultimate best at everything and shown so many strange and dangerous life choices, its difficult to stay grounded and true to who you are.
However, being a teen does have its perks. One of those is inspiration. A strange one, with so little purpose to others, but to me it's huge. Before this, I hid in a shell, my own bubble of zero self belief and nonexistent confidence. But it's all began to change. The reason why?

People on the internet.

That's strange to say considering many people within the online community Ive never met and will never have the chance of meeting: but having said that  its partly the reason as to why it's such a large inspiration.
The whole 'youtuber' idea is pretty big these days and it's impacted so many people - the uploaders. the subscribers. the people who are too afraid to try it out for themselves. and people like me. By that I mean someone who is so tempted by it all but it's never quite been something that you feel confident in doing.
Since I've changed my blog, and took nearly a month away I've felt now that it's time to get back in the game because these days it's okay to just stop and take time to get away from things and say that 'no, things aren't okay right now', or 'it's time I relaxed and had a moment to take it all in and breathe'. As the world spins, stress builds on everyone and people on the internet have managed to share there lives and precious moments peacefully with the strong support of the viewers and the rest of the World Wide Web community.
In May of this year, I met Connor Franta, and I've never met anyone as grounded as him before. He welcomed everyone with open arms and literally hugged the thousand + people that were meeting him. That's why people who do his job are so inspiring as they show appreciation for everything and give back to those who have helped them getto where   they are today.
Then there's others I.e - Zoe Sugg, Tanya Burr, Jim Chapman, Marcus Butler etc who also have shown us as young people that anything in today's world is possible.

Something as little as a blog post, or a video uploaded to you tube can genuinely change perceptions and even lives, and it creates a space where people can relate and have the ability discuss issues around the world with each other through the virtual world.
So really; even though own world had its ups and downs, it's clear that throughout the power of virtuality, social connection and general support of those online, it seems we are stronger than ever.. With that we can be anything, and do whatever we want with our lives.

New name; new start..

Friday, 22 May 2015

Hi there guys;

You may have noticed that if you have clicked on 'megmoobows' it comes up and says that the blog is no longer available. That is because I thought it was time to start again, and change the name of my blog and have a new outlook on it all.

Basically over the past few months I haven't been doing many posts or putting anything up and I thought it was time to change.

However don't worry this won't change the content of my posts or anything it's still the same stuff!

Speak to you all soon,
                    Love Megan x

woah. I'm the worst.

Monday, 11 May 2015

Well again I'm a failure in terms of keeping my promises to post more etc, etc.

This is all because I'm starting my GCSE's and finally after ages of looking I've finally found myself a job! So basically I've had zero time to do anything, and for the past few weeks it's been work revise sleep and school.
I have 20 exams in total over a month period and to be honest I can't wait till there over because my school had put so much pressure on us as a year it's just become so stressful! But I'm feeling confident and ready. But basically I just wanted to let you all know I am still around and after the next few weeks are over with I will have time to post more and get back to my normal self!

Lots of love, MegMooBows x

What's going on?

Tuesday, 31 March 2015

I can't believe how long it's been since I last posted. Beginning  to become so distant from my blog, but I actually decided to post something. March has been one of those months that I don't really want to remember. It's had its ups and downs and a lot has happened which basically has left me not feeling like I wanted to blog and talk about things.  But now that the month is over, I think it's time to move forward and just go onwards and hopefully upwards.

However, to get back into the swing of things, I thought I would start '#This week' posts. I've seen the blogger ICovetThee do these, and i think they are a great way to talk about the weeks that are interesting.
As well as these posts I'll still be doing normal ones but I thought that as I've been the worst blogger in history I'd make it my mission to post more..

So that's today's post done with. I know it's terrible but I promise I will start posting again soon!

Love, Megan xx

Meeting Tanya Burr.

Monday, 16 February 2015

Today was a truly amazing day. I finally got the chance to meet the lovely Lady herself - Tanya Burr.

I started Meg Moo Bows because I was massively influenced by other bloggers/vloggers such as Zoella and Tanya herself, and meeting her was so surreal.  She's a huge inspiration to me and someone that I look up to. Not only does she brighten my day, but she also makes me feel more confident meaning I've started to face some fears of mine.
Also, Tanya is a lovely person and very down to earth, If anyone had said to me a few years back that I would be meeting her, I'd have laughed in there face, but I have met her and it was one of the greatest days in my life.

The only down side was that - due to my lack of luck - I was feeling slightly under the weather, but I still wanted to meet her in the flesh! I went with my friend and we were both really excited to finally be meeting someone that we look up to. I have to say, standing int the cold for 2 hours was definitely worth it.

When the signing started, groups were sent in to meet her, I think I was in like group three? Something like that, but anyway, I had written Tanya a letter, which I handed to the assistant, and then I actually spoke to Tanya! - OMG-

It was so weird how I didn't feel nervous speaking to her, It was like I already knew her, She's so lovely and you can just see how much her fans mean to her. We only exchanged a few words like 'hi, how are you?' etc, and again, that experience was so surreal!
I can't honestly say how much today meant to me, and how much I want to thank Tanya for, She brightens my days, and she's inspired me to be doing things I never dreamt of!

Tanya Thankyou, I love you and I wish you and Jim all the best for your 'soon to be married' future!
If only you know how much you've helped me, its means so much!

Here are some pictures of the overwhelming day..

Current beauty picks.

Friday, 30 January 2015

 Hello...
I thought I would go into some 'Current Beauty' picks/go to's, of these past few weeks.

Starting off with what should be a staple in anyone's winter routine: Lip Balms and Butter.
Now, I've got millions of these, but I only tend to use about 2. These are important, as with the weather getting ten times colder, and the wind picking up, you need to make sure that your keeping your lips moisturized as they tend to become dry and chapped with the change in weather conditions.
I use The Body shop Lip Butter: in the fragrance Shea Butter. This is super luxurious and keeps your lips in great condition: especially in these horrible winter conditions. I also use the burts bees, as its great for moisturizing and it smells super lovely!

As well as lip care its important that you keep up to date on your skin care products, especially as cold and windy weather can be very damaging. I recently started using new products as I heard great reviews on them and as always its worth a try! I've had acne for literally ages now, and I will give anything a go to try and get it to die down.. I think I've finally found the products though! I use the 'Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot' on a daily basis and this leaves my skin feeling soft and healthy. On days of indulgence, I love using a face mask. My top fave at the minute has to be the 'Salicylic Acid -Anti Blemish pore purifying clay mask' from the super facialist range by Una Brennan. To be honest, this was a totally new brand to me, but I'm so glad I have found it!

Next on the agenda of current beauty picks, has to be make up related:
NAKED 3 Palette, and Real Techniques Brushes only appeared in my make up collection/accessory box since Christmas, but I can't live without them. They have become a total essential and much needed products. The brushes are the best brushes I have ever used, and they give such great coverage, its just unbelievable. Hats off to Nic and Sam Chapman! Also, Urban Decay game is very high after the arrival of the simply stunning eyeshadow set. Its perfect, I have no words.
Slightly strange go to now, The No.7 Heated Lash Curler. Now, again this only entered my make up collection at Christmas. I have possibly the worse kind of lashes ever. The stick straight forward and it ends up looking like I don't have any. However, with this bad boy, I'm finally starting to look like I have long lush lashes, which is pretty awesome, as its been a huge struggle in my life to get them to look decent without aid from strip or extension lashes.

Lots of Love,
Megan

School Morning Routine.

Monday, 12 January 2015

Starting the morning off in the right way has become like my new years resolution, as last year I never used to get up early, and never eat ate breakfast: which wasn't great to be honest as it meant that most of the day I would feel tired and hungry.
So, the new year meant that I began to change how I start my mornings on days in which I am at school. Because of this, I thought I would post my School Morning Routine.

It all starts with the dreaded sound; the alarm. I have a number of alarms and I'm pretty rubbish when it comes to waking up straight away... But when I do finally get up around about half 6 each morning I always check social media and see if I've missed anything important;

Instagram happens to be the one I check up the most..
Next it's time to get out of my bed, which happens to be extremely warm at this time in the day; and go down and get breakfast. I like to start the day well, so I tend to have Greek yogurt with fruitand granola, that if I'm feeling healthy, otherwise it's a warm crumpet!

Then it's time to go back upstairs and start getting ready, I normally brush my teeth etc, first and then do my hair and make up. Just the usual straight hair and natural make up look, as I don't like wearing to much day to day.

After the make up is finished, and my hair is complete, I sort out my bag and put on my uniform, which is possibly the most uncomfortable thing ever, but hey ho!

Then, it's normally about 7.55, by this time, I've gone downstairs and made my dinner. All in all a busy morning..

Finally it's time to leave, and start the 7 hour day at school. What utter joy!

Thanks for reading,
      Lots of love,

Setting it straight for 2015.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! - FIRST BLOG OF 2015!

It's safe to say, last year I lacked a little on the blogging side, and there is pretty much no excuse for it..
But now I've decided that this year I will actually put effort in to make sure that I post at least once a week, if not fortnightly.  I started this whole process as mainly a beauty blog, but recently I've been thinking that I should broaden my horizons and add more lifestyle, fashion and maybe even baking, as well as the beauty side - don't get me wrong, that will still be the main aspect on here, but I thought it would become boring and tedious if I constantly wrote about the same things.

Also throughout this new year, I intend to tackle other types of issues, maybe things such as the previous post - girl online controversy. And also things in the news I have ideas/ things to say to bring forward.

Recently I've seen more and more people join the blogging scene, and it's nice to see, but it's something that is also maybe challenging for people like me who are Also bloggers as it means you have to think more about your content and the subject matter which you will post. Also, when new bloggers bring posts to the Internet, advertising is key and something that I do myself, but I think there is a limit and if you 'over do it', it could make people feel that your being forced to read. Because of this, I've decided to a scale down my own advertising and stick to social networking sites such as facebook and Twitter.

Anyway, let's end the blogging matters and think about the year ahead on a personal note.

Last year I finally started to become confident and this is something in which I intend to carry on going. Also in 2015, I want to try out new things and step out of my comfort zones. I'm in a tough school year, with it being my last and one filled with GCSE's I really want to get ready for the tough tasks the ahead.
And finally I want to generally have a smashing year and do things that I will be proud of instead blog having a number of regrets.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas - even though it's a little late, and 2015 is a splendid year for you! Make dreams come true and live for every moment.

Speak to you all soon,

   Lots of love,
